April to early June is the ideal time to see birds at close quarters and the best ways to find them is to go out with an experienced local guide.

10:30: 6hr Walk, Zeal Tor Tramway and Red Lake China Clay Works (Shipley Bridge) Explore the Redlake Tramway and surrounding area. The line was completed in 1912 and used to transport men and materials to and from the clayworks at Red Lake. The line operated until 1932. Guide I Johnstone

10:30: 3hr Walk, Templer's Tramway (Haytor, Lower Car Park) Possibly the most well known of the Tramways, the rails constructed entirely of granite.

10:30: 2.5hr Walk, The Biodiversity of an Upland Farm (Challacombe) A walk to look at the range of wildlife found on a remote moorland farm with a DNPA Ecologist. Walking boots essential.

10:30: 3hr Walk, Tramway & Medieval Landscapes (Haytor, Lower Car Park) This popular area hides a wealth of history relating to quarrying on Dartmoor. See the remnants of quarrying in this area and the remains of the Granite tramway a unique railway made from granite setts.

10:45: 2hr Stroll, Houndtor Medieval Village (Hound Tor) The fringes of the High Moor were settled in medieval times, however a significant number were abandoned around the 14th century. 11:00: 2hr Walk, The Wildlife of Dartmoor's Rhos Pastures (Cold East Cross Car Park) A walk to look at characteristic plants and animals associated with this rare wet grassland habitat, including the Marsh Fritillary butterfly, weather permitting! Wellies or walking boots essential.

13:30: 3hr Walk, Myths and Legends (Manaton) A walk taking in Bowerman's Nose and Jay's Grave suitable for families to finish at the village hall for a Cream Tea. Part of the Manaton Midsummer festival.
