Take a look at our lovely wine list at the Two Bridges Hotel, and you’ll notice that we are proud to include brilliant English wines from Devon’s own Sharpham Vineyard, located on the sunny slopes which look out over the majestic River Dart near Totnes.
Sharpham Vineyard produces classic English wines which are the result of a marriage of rich Devon soil, mild Devon climate and robust grape varieties. The winery employs both traditional and New World techniques to bring out unique regional characteristics in the award-winning wines.
The Sharpham estate also produces delicious Devon cheeses, which again you will find here at the Two Bridges Hotel for your pleasure.
Sharpham makes a great day out when you stay with us at the Two Bridges Hotel. The vineyard offers a choice of tours open to all, including a self-guided “Trek and Taste” which provides the chance to stroll through the vineyard (which offers beautiful views of the River Dart), followed by a tasting session hosted by the friendly and highly-knowledgeable Sharpham team.
Naturally you can buy the wines to take away (a perfect gift to take home from Devon!), or you can enjoy a glass with an alfresco lunch on the terrace.
We can particularly recommend the Sharpham Dart Valley Reserve, which you’ll find on the wine list at the Two Bridges Hotel. It’s a dry, crisp and light white, achieved by blending Sharpham’s different grape varieties and partially ageing in oak. A lovely partner to our fresh fish dishes at the Two Bridges Hotel, but also very pleasant to enjoy on its own in our sunny gardens on a Summer’s evening.
Along with the Two Bridges Hotel, Sharpham Vineyard is a Taste of the West Award winner, marking the vineyard’s place as a showcase for the best of the South West.
The historic riverside town of Totnes, and the Dartington Estate, are a 10 minute drive from Sharpham, and are both well worth a visit on your day out from the Two Bridges Hotel.
